Mark Kozel is a Partner/Principal at The Parkland Group, and has been actively involved in helping organizations improve their results for most of his career. Mark started in marketing management with a leading international distributor of replacement parts to the automotive aftermarket, industrial maintenance and retail hardware markets. During this time, Mark also managed the international sales & marketing, incentive programs and marketing communications functions.

Subsequently, Mark joined a public national automobile rental firm as the Managing Director of a $2 million marketing and supply service subsidiary, which handled all advertising, telecommunication, marketing support and logistical support for a large publically-traded organization with over 350 offices in 38 states. In this position, Mark also directed the public and investor relations functions for the parent organization, including corporate spokesperson.

Mark joined Parkland in 1994 and chairs the Reorganization and Investment Banking practice area. Since joining the firm, he has been involved in numerous cases, including leading the workout negotiations for a $120 million retail company in bankruptcy, negotiating settlements with over 700 creditors across the United States; assisting various Chapter 11 Trustees with their responsibilities; and has included various engagements in the industrial, manufacturing, distribution, and transportation industries. Mark has managed the sale of many businesses both within and outside of bankruptcy protection, often overseeing the client's operations while the sale efforts take place. He has also acted as a court-appointed Receiver.

Mark has been involved in successful turnaround engagements in numerous industries including construction, health clubs, software, manufacturing, and distribution. He did his undergraduate work at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Turnaround Management Association and NEON-IWIRC, and currently serves as an officer on the Board of the Ohio Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.

Mark is a co-inventor of Parkland's new and revolutionary business improvement process, SOAR to Strategic Excellence ™ and is a Certified SOAR Facilitator. With other members of the Parkland Team, he co-authored Top-Down Vision and Bottom-Up Management [2002], which focuses on improving business value and success via collaborative management. He also edited The Turbocharged Company - Igniting Your Business to Soar Ahead of the Competition [1995].
